Honor Killings
This week was quite challenging. I found these chapters to be very long and would often loose interest in the material. The one thing that stood out the most to me was the very small bit on honor killings in chapter 9. The first time I heard about honor killings was a few months ago on the news, there was a woman from Pakistan who was also a famous internet personality. She dressed in western clothes and would post videos on Facebook. Her brother killed her because "she brought dishonor to their family"...he drugged her and strangled her to death. I found this so incredibly shocking. I continued to research this and came across many more stories like this, where the father or the brother killed the daughter or sister for similar reasons, and it was ok! That was something I could not understand. This was what stood out for me the most from all this reading. oh, and the fact that the Mongols basically invaded everywhere and somewhat succeeded.
Here is the link for the story I mentioned above.
